The Super Eagles of Nigeria has a rich history of producing potent strikers/forwards over the years and names like the late Rashidi Yekini, Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, Yabuku Aiyegbeni, Julius Aghahowa among others come to mind.
Julius Aghohowa was a special breed. He was known for his agility, pace, trickery, covetousness for goals. and his trademark backflips celebration.
Although he only spent seven years with the national team (2000-2007), some of the goals Julius Aghahowa scored remain fresh in the minds of Nigerian football fans.
Julius Aghahowa turns 38 today and we relive the moment of his goal against Sweden in the group stage at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan.
Julius Aghohowa was born in Benin-City, Nigeria and he played for Bendel Insurance and Esperance of Tunisia before moving to the Ukrainian side, Shakhtar Donestk where he scored 51 goals in 150 appearances. He also played in England and Turkey before he hanged his boots in 2011.
He played at Africa Cup of Nations in 2002 where he finished as the top scorer with 3 goals.
Hearty Cheers 🎊
