Remo Stars are not giving up yet on their dream of winning the Nigeria Premier Football League title this season.
The Sky Blue Stars kept hope alive as they returned to winning ways with a comfortable 3-nil home win over Niger Tornadoes on Friday.
The Ikenne-based team have struggled in the league recently especially away from home. Gombe, Doma and Plateau, united to take points off them heading into the match.
Sikiru Alimi continued his impressive goalscoring form this season as the striker bagged a first-half brace to put the home side in control of the match.
Alimi scored the first goal on the 28th minute from the penalty spot after an opposition player hamdled the ball in the box.
The 28-year-old striker scored the second a few minutes later after he was set up by Haruna Hadi who dashed into the box with a fine pass to the striker.
Niger Tornadoes had a chance to halve the deficit a minute before half-time but Kayode Bankole saved the effort as he kept the scoreline the same.
Ahmed Akinyele added the third goal with fifteen minutes to regulation time as Remo stars bagged 3 goals and 3 points.
The win now put Daniel Ogunmodede’s team second on the log with 52 points after 31 matches. Remo Stars are just two points behind league leaders, Enugu Rangers
Sikiru Alimi leads the topscorers log with 14 goals and he’s closely follwed behind by Enyimba’s Chijioke Mbaoma who has 13 goals.
