Rivers United To Face Club Africain, APC Lobito, Dreams FC In CAF Confederation Cup!

Nigeria Premier Football League side, Rivers United will face teams from Tunisia, Ghana and Angola in the group stage of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

The draw for the competition was held on Thursday in Johannesburg, South Africa as the 16 winners of the final qualifying round were drawn into four groups of four.

The former Nigerian champions qualified for the group stage of CAF’s second-tier competition for African clubs after defeating Etoile Filante of Burkinaso-Faso 2 nil on aggregate.

Rivers United will play Club Africain of Tunisia, Angola’s APC Lobito and Dreams FC of Ghana as they look to qualify for the next round of the competition.

Stanley Eguma’s men are no strangers to the competition. They competed on last season’s edition of the competition and qualified for the knockoit round.

Unfortunately, The Pride of Rivers lost to finalist, Yound Africans of Tanzania 2 nil on aggregate. The Tanzanian club beat Rivers United away from home and played a goalless darw in Dar es Salam.

Rivers United begin their CAF Confederation Cup campaign at home against Angola’s APC on the 26th of November.
