Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers has heaped praises on Nigerian international Kelechi Iheanacho after his performance against Walsall in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The Foxes defeated League two outfit Walsall 1-0 today at the Bescot Stadium.

Iheanacho scored the lone goal of the match in the 68th minute after he was substituted in.

Rodgers extolled Iheanacho’s all round display in the encounter.

“He came into the game with a real fire in his belly to perform and did really well,” Rodgers said

“For a large part of my time here Vardy has been out number one striker, we brought Patson (Daka) in who could replicate that and Kelechi is a fantastic link player for us.”

Iheanacho has racked up one goal and one assist in 14 Premier League games for Leicester City this season.

He is the highest goalscorer in the FA Cup since 2016 with 17 goals in 23 appearances.
