Matchday 25 games of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) were played across several venues across the country on Wednesday, March 18th.

After the conclusion of games, the League Management Company (LMC) released a statement on their website that they are postponing the NPFL due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus and in accordance with the government.

The statement said, “Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has been suspended till further notice in line with global health preventive protocol against the Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19).

“In suspending remaining league matches, the League Management Company (LMC) said it would review the decision after consulting the nation’s health authorities, namely, the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

“Matchday 25 fixtures were concluded on Wednesday and the LMC said the decision was to conform with the guidelines for containment of the spread of the global pandemic.”
