Former World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion of the World Deontay Wilder has been spotted to be wearing a Yoruba cap.
Wilder who was last seen in action in a fight against Tyson Fury in which he lost.
Since the defeat in February, Wilder has been very silent, which is unlike his very charismatic self.
The picture by Wilder first surfaced on afropolitain magazine. Wilder took a photoshoot with afropolitain magazine in which he wore a Yoruba cap.
In the post by afropolitain magazine, Wilder said, “I felt like it was really important for me to do some research to pinpoint where I am from and pass it to my children as well. That will be valuable information for them and their kids as they go on.”

Wilder then took to his official Instagram account to also post the picture with a caption which said, “All praises to the most high. #BombZquad.”

This is not the first time Wilder would hint at connections to Nigeria as he previously stated in an origin test that he is from the western African country. Wilder previously also collaborated with Nigerian singer and songwriter Sadiq Onifade also known as WurlD earlier in the year in which he stated he was an African giant.

Wilder is expected to take on Tyson Fury in a trilogy fight later this year with the hope to reagin his WBC heavyweight boxing title.
