Sporting Lagos Earn Late Point As Remo Stars Unbeaten Home Run Continue

Sporting Lagos poor run form continued as they hosted Bayelsa United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on NPFL Matchday 15.

Paul Offor’s men came into the match winless in their in their last two games with the hope of securing maximum points in front of their home fans.

The home side started the game the better side as a chance almost fell to former Kano Pillars striker, Junior Lokosa in the 18th minute.

However, against the run of play, the away side took the lead six minutes later. Robert Mizo scored his 10th goal of the campaign to give Bayelsa United the lead.

The first-half ended 1 nil in favour of Bayelsa United as they held on to their slim lead despite waves of pressure from Sporting Lagos.

The second half started with the home side mounting pressure on the former NPFL champions.

The pressure eventually yielded fruits not an equalizer but a red card for the visitors as Kehinde Lawal got sent off.

Aliu Salawudeen, a second-half substitute got a very late equalizer for the home side to rescue a point for the home side.

The match was quite keenly contested as Bayelsa United registered 7 shots on targets while the home side had 4.

Sporting Lagos are currently 14th on the log with 17 points after 14 matches.

Remo Stars are currently on top of the log with 29 points after the Sky Blue Stars earned all three points over Lobi Stars in Ikenne on Thursday.
