Taiwo Awoniyi joins Union Berlin on loan from Liverpool
Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Bundesliga side Union Berlin on loan for the 2020-21 season.
Awoniyi joined Union Berlin on loan from Premier League champions, Liverpool, on Saturday, September 19th.
The 23-year-old is set for a second successive campaign in the Bundesliga.
Awoniyu returns to the Bundesliga were he made 12 appearances for FSV Mainz 05 last season and scored one goal.
Speaking to the Union Berlin website about the move Awoniyi said, “I’m looking forward to a new home and the task at 1. FC Union Berlin. Mainz was my second stop in Germany after Frankfurt and last year I was able to prove myself in the Bundesliga for the first time.
“At Union, I want to take the next steps, play as much as possible, develop and help the team to stay in the league.”
