Tokyo 2020: Follow the Olympics through Odegbami’s ‘eyes’
The postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics finally got underway on Friday with an impressive opening ceremony which, sadly, had no live audience – no thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic which instigated its one-year postponement in the first place.
However, from Day 2 of the Games, the world’s biggest sporting competition, former Nigeria national football team captain Chief Olusegun Odegbami will be taking you, our esteemed readers, through the alleyways and canals of Tokyo to see the sights and hear the sounds which you will not see or hear from the broadcast media already stationed in Japan.
The prolific Columnist, with over 30 years experience of covering major sporting events across the globe will be on hand to bring you interesting reports about life in the Nigerian camp at the Olympics.
According to him: “All the races, jumps and matches will be available on regular television sets in every home. But what will not be available are those things that happen behind-the-scenes. Those are the things the Eye will fish out.
“So, I am boarding a ‘flight of journalistic fantasy’ tonight and shall attempt to creatively obtain some exclusives from Tokyo, and channel them through various media platforms to all those that choose to follow me on Television, on my official www:mathematical7.com website, other selected social media platforms, and Complete Sports Newspaper, to connect with goings-on at the historic Tokyo Olympic Games.
“These are the only Games in history without visitors, with limited access for journalists, no travelling sports fans, and, definitely, a near total absence of those on the usual 4-yearly jamborèe.
“So, for soft-core information, sports entertainment, some news and exclusive reports, connect with me everyday by navigating through all of the mediums I shall be serving.”
