Tokyo Olympics: Nigeria finishes 74th on overall medals table, 8th in Africa

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics has officially come to an end and Nigeria finished as the 74th best country in the overall medal table while they finished 8th among the African team at the competition.

Long Jumper, Ese Brume (bronze), and Wrestler, Blessing Oborodudu (Silver) won Nigeria’s medals at the Tokyo Olympics.

Nigeria was represented by 55 athletes at the competition but 10 were disqualified due to 10 non-compliance with the mandatory Out of Competition drug test.

Only 13 African countries out of 54 made it to the medals table. Kenya finished the competition as the best African team with 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals.

Uganda had 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal while South Africa recorded 1 gold and 2 silver medals.

The next Olympics is billed for Paris in 2024.
