Nigeria’s hope of winning a medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics has been kept alive by a couple of track and field athletes as the competition draws to a close.
Long Jumper, Ese Brume has qualified for the final of the long jump event after she reached a 6.78m distance which is a centimeter more than the qualifying mark.
She had initially registered 6.68m in her first jump and 6.55m in her second attempt.
Ese Brume will now compete in the final on Tuesday.
African and Commonwealth champion, Tobi Amusan has also qualified for the 110m hurdles after winning her semi-final heat in 10.62 secs.
She becomes the second woman to qualify for the final after Gloria Alozie who won silver at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
