Victor Osimhen will remain a Napoli player as his potential transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli or Chelsea didn’t materialize.
Recall that Naijasuperfans.com reported that the Super Eagles striker was set to join Al Ahli after Napoli reached an agreement with the club.
But Osimhen, according to European football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, didn’t give in to the personal terms offered by Al Ahli.
Napoli were also in talks with Premier League side Chelsea simultaneously as they hoped to get the best deal for Osimhen.
Chelsea reportedly offered Osimhen a paycut to join the club but it was immediately rejected by the player.
Unfortunately, neither Chelsea nor Al Ahli were able unable to reach an agreement for the transfer of Victor Osimhen before the closure of the Premier League transfer window which closed at 11 p.m on Friday night.
However, Al Ahli were able to secure the services of Ivan Tooney from Brentford who joined the club for £40m.
Victor Osimhen will now look to compete with newly-acquired striker Romelu Lukaku for a starting shirt at Napoli as the season progresses.
