Everton forward Alex Iwobi has stated that both foreign and local players in the Super Eagles are ready to establish themselves as they prepare to face Mexico in an international friendly match on Saturday.
Iwobi is returning to the team after missing the Ghanaian Black Stars’ 2022 World Cup qualification playoffs.
Everton recently avoided relegation to the English Championship thanks to the former Arsenal player.
In a press conference before of the friendly against Mexico, Iwobi stated that every player is giving their all in training and hopes for a favorable outcome.
“Everybody is psyched up for the game, it’s another opportunity to represent your country,” Iwobi said in an interview on NFF TV.
“It’s been a while I’ve been playing because obviously I missed the World Cup qualifiers but I’m back again.
“It’s not just me that is hungry, the local players are hungry to prove a point so we are going to represent and do our best for the country hopefully we will get the result that we want.”
“It’s been very good everyone is here to impress and everyone is giving 100 per cent. It’s our first time with the new coach and the staff, we are warming into their ideas but it’s still early stages but we are enjoying our time so far, we just have to make sure it continues this way to keep this unity and chemistry going.”
The Eagles will meet Ecuador on June 2nd, following today’s friendly.
