
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that Felix Agu is now eligible to play gor the Super Eagles bringing an end to speculations on his ineligibility.
Felix Agu’s inclusion in Eric Chelle’s squad for next week’s Unity Cup invitational tournament raised doubts on whether the player is eligible to play for Nigeria having previously featured for Germany.
However, the German Football Federation DFB confirmed that the defender has not featured for Germany in any competitive match.
The DFB, in a statement published on the X page of the NFF, revealed that Felix Agu only played for for the under-19 team on an unofficial match in 2019 .
Agu was initially listed to train with the team in preparation for the Unity Cup but will be in contention to make his debut against Ghana on Wednesday.
The Super Eagles will take on Ghana at the GTech Community Stadium – Brentford’s home ground on Wednesday evening.
Felix Agu is a left-back but could also play as a wing-back in a 3-4-3 system. The 25-year-old played 25 times for Werder Bremen this season with three goals and an assist to his name.
Agu’s addition to the team is a significant step in ensuring Eric Chelle get young and talented players to help the team’s defense ahead of the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series later this year.
