The Yobe State government has announced the closure of all boarding schools in the state in a bid to ensure the safety of the students from probable attack from armed bandits.
This latest development was contained in a statement by the state’s Commisioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Muhammed Idris on Monday in Damaturu.
According to the statement, the only students between JS I – SS II in boarding schools are exempted from coming until further notice. However, all other schools are to continue with normal academic activities.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding schools in the state.

The closure of the boarding schools is informed by the security concern and the urgent need for the government to be proactive in safeguarding the lives of the children.
The Commissioner added that the Yobe State government is strategising on how to ensure that the students will be engaged in academic activities virtual just like it was done during the height of COVID-19
