Chelsea recorded a 1-0 win away against Atletico Madrid in their first leg UEFA Champions League encounter played on Tuesday, February 23rd.

The only goal of the game was scored by French striker Olivier Giroud in the 68th minute as Chelsea held on to a win the first leg against Atletico Madrid.

Aged 34 years and 146 days, Olivier Giroud is the oldest player to score in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League for Chelsea, and the oldest to do so for an English side since Ryan Giggs in April 2011 vs Schalke.
