Nigeria and Benin Republic Lose Bid To Host 2027 AFCON
Nigeria and the Republic of Benin have lost out in their joint bid to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 2027 Afcon hosting duties has now been handed to the trio of East African countries Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
This is the first time either Kenya, Uganda or Tanzania have emerged as hosts of the continental showpiece.
The announcement was made today by the CAF executive committee in Egypt.
The North African nation of Morocco will host the 2025 edition of the tournament.
Nigeria co-hosted the 2000 edition of the tournament with West African neighbours Ghana.
Ivory Coast will host Afcon 2023 which will take place between January 13 and February 11.
The Super Eagles qualified from Group A of the Afcon 2023 qualifiers as winners of the group.
