Atalanta football club will play in its first-ever european final courtesy of the influence of Ademola Lookman.
The Super Eagles forward played a huge role as La Dea secured the ticket to play in this season’s Europa League final with victory over Marseille.
Ademola Lookman reached his 20th goal contribution on the night as he helped his side qualify for the Europa League final.
Lookman provided a goal and an assist as Atalanta thrashed their visitors 3 nil at the Gewiss stadium on Thursday night.
Atalanta came into the game with 1-1 aggregate score from the first leg but turned the tie around completely playing in front of their home fans.
Ademola Lookman scored the first goal of the night on the half hour mark. He received a pass from Charles De Katelaere, raced towards towards goal, twist and turned around three defenders before powering a low drive from the edge of the box to give the home side the lead.
The home side sustained the momentum with the start of the second half and the second gaol came in seven minutes after the restart. Lookman found Matteo Ruggeri around the edge, laid a good pass for hime before the Italian hammered it into the net.
Marseille came close to getting a goal back moments later but Jordan Veretout’s strike from range came off the bar.
Malian forward El Bilal Toure completed the victory for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side as he put the ball into the back of the net from the penalty area.
The match ended 4-1 on aggregate in favour of Atlanta as they head into their first European final where they will take on ubeaten Bayer Leverkusen in the final.
