Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman was the “Man of the Match” as Atalanta came back twice to beat Fiorentina on Sunday.
Lookman was instrumental in the comeback win as he scored his first goal of the season on his first game as well.
The forward beat his marker comfortably on the touchline before putting a brilliant cross into the box for Mateo Retegui’s equalizer on the 21st minute.
Lookman gave Atlanta the lead for the first time in the match a few minutes before the end of half time via a brilliant effort.
The 25-year-old received a looping ball from Charles De Katelaere from midfield, raced into the box, turned his markers in and out before releasing a low drive into the bottom left corner of goal to give Atalanta a 3-2 lead.
Lookman was on for the entire duration of the match as Atalanta held on to their lead to the end of the match.
The Super Eagles winger is currently tagged as the favorite to win the 2024 CAF Player of the Year after a fantastic individual performance for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations early this year.
He also led Atalanta to their first European trophy as he scored a hattrick in the 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final in May.
