Victor Boniface scored his first UEFA Champions League on as Bayer Leverkusen beat AC Milan on Tuesday at the Bay Arena.
Boniface made the difference in the match as his goal secured three points for Bayer Leverkusen but a second loss for AC Milan.
The Super Eagles striker had earlier given the Bundesliga champions the lead early in the first half but his goal was ruled for offside.
The encounter was quite a one-sided affair as Xabi Alonso’s side dominated proceedings with a handful of shots on targets which they failed to convert.
Victor Boniface eventually broke the deadlock a few minutes after the restart as he pounced on a rebound in the box to give the home side the lead.
The goal is his first in the competition after he made his debut appearance in Leverkusen’s 4 nil win over Feyernoord on matchday 1.
The second half saw the visitors created a couple of chances with 4 shots as they tried to get back into the match.
Theo Hernandez’s 82nd minute strike from the eegw of the box went off the crossbar as the left-back almost restored parity for Milan.
Boniface’s goal was the difference between the two sides as Bayer Leverkusen pick six points form their opening two matches in the competition’s new format.
