
Nottingham Forest players paid an emotional tribute to Taiwo Awoniyi in the match against Westham at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Morgan Gibbs-White raised Awoniyi’s jersey after he scored the opener against the home side as he pounced on an error from Alphonso Areola.
The rest of the squad joined the English midfielder to raise Awoniyi’s jersey in a show of respect for the Super Eagles striker.
Before the match against Westham, Nottingham Forest players wore white shorts with the inscription “We are with you Taiwo” with his name and jersey number written on the back of the shirt.



Taiwo Awoniyi is currently recovering from an induced coma after undergoing a two-phased surgery due to an injury he sustained recently.
Awoniyi suffered an injury as he collided with the goalpost in the two-all draw against Leicester City last week at the City Ground.
The Super Eagles underwent surgery Monday last week to repair to repair a serious abdominal damage.
Taiwo Awoniyi was placed in an induced coma afterward as part of his recovery process after surgery.
Taiwo Awoniyi recovery process is still ongoing and is set to fully recover in the off season as Nottingham Forest look to give their Champions League football chase a final push.
