Ashleigh Plumptre tells public to shun fake Facebook account
Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has distanced herself from a fake Facebook account which has repeatedly shared fake news.
The Al Ittihad Ladies defender reiterated that she does not operate any Facebook account as she asks fans to report the account.
Plumptre raised an alarm about the fake Facebook account during the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations telling fans to disregard any information from it.
She went on to inform the public that she only operates a Twitter and an Instagram account.
However, a recent post from the fake Facebook account that has her name and picture in a Super Falcons jersey posted a controversial post where she accused the Nigeria Football Federation of corruption.
According to a post from the fake Facebook account, Plumptre accused the football body of excluding her from the squad list for next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations due to corrupt practices.
She went on to further reveal that she will not compromise her values to get an invitation to the national team if her hard work and commitment aren’t enough.
However, Ashleigh Plumptre reacted by making a screenshot of the Facebook post on her Twitter account labeling it “fake” as he distanced herself from the account for the second time in 12 months.
Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, also made a post on her Twitter account with the same screenshot as he asked fans to report the account to avoid misinformation and character assassination.
