Shooting Stars Shine Over Inter Lagos In NPFL Opener

Shooting Stars of Ibadan began their 2026-27 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League season on a positive note.

The Oluyole Warriors welcomed debutants Inter Lagos to the famous Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba on Friday evening.

Goals from 22-year-old forward Lucky Emmanuel and Sodiq Ibrahim sealed the win for the host in a fairly contested affair.

Emmanuel gave the Oluyole Warriors the lead fourteen minutes into the tie with a close range finish into the far corner.

Damilare Adigun made history six minutes later as he scored Inter Lagos’ first-ever goal in the NPFL.

The midfielder was in the right spot to tap-in a square ball into the box to restore parity.

However, Shooting Stars, just before the break went ahead again courtesy of Sodiq Emmanuel’s conversion from the spot.

Shooting Stars missed from the spot late on but held on to their lead until the blast of the final whistle to secure maximum points in the season opener.

The Oluyole Warriors will turn their attention to CS Sfaxien in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup next weekend in Abeokuta.
