It has been an amazing year for 18-year old Bukayo Saka who’s developed in leaps and bounds in his first full year as a senior player.
The Arsenal starlet registered his 12th assist of the season on Tuesday night when he linked up with Pierre Aubameyang for his side’s goal in the 1-1 draw with Leicester.
The Nigerian-born wing back is in distinguished company, coming just third behind Liverpool’s Alexander Arnold and Manchester City’s Debruyne who are on 14 and 19 assists respectively in all competitions.
In his breakthrough season, Bukayo has played 35 games in all competiitons, 23 of them in the Premier League. He’s also played six in the Europa League and another in their run to the semi-finals where the Gunners have set up a date with Manchester City.
Apart from his assists, Bukayo has also helped himself to four goals but picked up six yellow cards on the way.
For Bukayo, this is awesome and an indication of the upward trajectory of his career.
Luckily Arsenal recognises the growing importance of their whizkid who can also play as a full back by rewarding him with a brand new contract which reflects the fact that he’s the future for manager Mikel Arteta’s team.
