After much speculations in the last few days, it has now been confirmed that Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo will not be in Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations and they will be no replacement for the former Manchester United striker.
Ighalo’s participation at the tournament has been hanging on the balance for the past few days due to a clause in his contracts according to reports.
The clause in his contract according to reports does not permit him to play in any international competition.
Recall that Odion Ighalo joined Al Shabab after he retired from international football in 2019.
He was rrecently called back to the national team by former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr.
With the absence of Victor Osimhen, Emmanuel Dennis, and Odion Ighalo, the likes of Awoniyi, Sadiq Umar, or Peter Olayinka will fancy their chances in leading Super Eagles attack when they take on Egypt in their first match on January 11.
