Remo Stars outshine Shooting Stars to qualify for #NaijaSuper8 showdown in Lagos

Remo Stars football club have booked qualified for the grand finale of the NaijaSuper8 off-season football competition taking place at the Eket Stadium in Akwa-Ibom State.

The highly anticipated Southwest derby did not exactly lived up to expectations as it ended in a one-sided game which was dominated by Daniel Ogunmodede’s Remo Stars.

Remo Stars continued their dominance over their fierce rivals as they beat them 3 nil in a very convincing display of class and elegance in the second match of the day.

The Sky Blue Stars made their intention of wining the match early as they took the lead as early as the seventh minute. Andy Okpe scored the first goal after Shooting Stars goalkeeper spilled Seun Ogunribide’s cross into the box towards his direction.

The Oluyole Warriors struggled to find their balance after they conceded the early and before they could, Remo Stars struck again four minutes later as Boniface Nwaeze headed the ball home from Seun Ogunribide’s well taken corner.

Segun Ogunribide was a torn in the flesh of Shooting Stars as he almost provided another assist but Ayomide Ogungbe failed to direct his header towards goal.

Shooting Stars had the chance to attack in the 25th minute after sustained pressure from Remo Stars but Okachi put the ball wide after a moment of creativity from the Oluyole Warriors. The Ibadan-based team had a another chance before half time to reduce the deficit but yet again they failed to score.

Remo Stars held on to the their lead for most part of the second-half as they waded-off attacking threats from Shooting Stars.

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s side rounded off their fine performance on the day as they added again to take a 3 nil lead with fifteen minutes to go.

Samuel Anakwe was in the right place at the right time as he tucked in the ball from a tailor-made cross from Aniekeme Okon.

Remo Stars are now on a 15 matches unbeaten run in all competitions after their defeat of Shooting Stars 3-0 in Eket.
