Flying Eagles

Flying Eagles defender Abel Ogwuche is optimistic about the future of the team with their display at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina despite being knocked out at the quarter-final stage of the competition. The Flying Eagles were pipped 1-0 by South Korea on Sunday at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades.

The game was dominated by Nigeria throughout the 90 minutes but the youngsters were unable to convert their chances in the encounter. Seok-Hyun Choi scored the only goal of the game in the 95th minute of extra time.

However despite the ouster, Ogwuche on his Twitter handle labelled the performance of the youngsters at the tournament as historic.

“What a historical moment with these lads ♥♥ 💪💪 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬 see you at the Top boys♥♥,” he Tweeted

Ogwuche made five appearances for Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The Flying Eagles won the FIFA U-20 World Cup silver medal at Saudi ’89 and Holland 2005.
