Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi was full of gratitude to God as he helped his side, Nottingham Forest survive relegation in the recently-concluded English Premier League season. Awoniyi who is currently in Nigeria alongside his family on holiday, shared his testimony during a service at his church in Abuja.
Awoniyi shared how he met the Pastor of the church and how he fell in love with the messages and prayers offered at the church. He also narrated how the messages and prayers of his pastor helped him at Union Berlin in the German Bundesliga before he joined Nottingham Forest in the Summer of 2022.
Despite a slow start at Nottingham Forest due to injuries, Awoniyi’s goals toward the end of the season helped Steve Cooper’s side as they survived relegation. Awoniyi scored against Southampton, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Crystal Palace en route to Nottingham Forest’s safety. The former Flying Eagles striker scored 6 goals and provided an assist in 10 matches after he returned from injury toward the end of the season.
Even though he was injured for a long period of time, Awoniyi registered 10 goals and 1 assist in 27 league appearances in his first season for his club.
