Nigeria Premier League side Abia Warriors have appointed former Super Eagles defender Emeka Ifejiagwa as the club’s new sporting director.
The Umuahia-based club announced the appointment of Ifejiagwa on it’s official Twitter page on Wednesday.

Emeka Ifegiawa played for the Super Eagles between 1997 and 2022. The defender made his debut under former national team coach Thijs Libregts in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi in Abeokuta which Nigeria won 2-0.
The 45-year-old started his career at Udoji United in 1996. He also also played for Iwuanyanwu Nationale before moving to Charlton Athletic in 1998 where he played for just a season.
Ifejiagwa went on to to play for Osasuna, Wolfsburg and SV Waldhof Mannheim before making a return to Bendel Insurance in 2003.
He played for Bendel Insurance for four years before hanging his boots in 2007.
Emeka Ifejiagwa will be saddled with the responsibility of attracting top talents to Abia Warriors ahead of the new football season.
Abia Warriors missed out of last season’s playoffs spots as they finished 4th in Group B behind Rivers United, Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars.
