Despite sealing qualification with a game to spare, the Super Eagles put up another brilliant performance against Guinea Bissau to round up the group stage matches with a perfect record.
Goals from Sadiq Umar and captain on the night, Williams Troost Ekong gave Super Eagles all three points as they became the first and only point to finish with nine points in the tournament.
A handful of players did exceptionally well in the match but these five players caught our fancy the most
Moses Simon
What an electrifying performance by the Nantes winger! Even though he came on in the second half, he put up an amazing 20 minutes as he terrorized the Guinea Bissau defense. The winger was unlucky to get a goal as one of his attempts hit the upright and the other was saved by the goalkeeper.
Semi Ajayi
The Westbrom defender who played in place of Kenneth Omeruo had an outstanding performance on the night. His partnership with Ekong kept the Guinea Bissau attackers at bay in the box as they forced them to shoot from distance.
The 6ft tall defender was comfortable on the ball as he moved the ball above the defensive lines into the midfield well. He had a brilliant game.
Wilfred Ndidi
The Leicester City defender was arguably the man of the match. He protected the defense well and offensively he was decent as he started the attack which led to the goal.
Kelechi Nwankali
The Huesca midfielder showed he is technically gifted and very confident on the ball. Although none of his crosses from corner kicks was converted , al of them looked threatening. The former youth international was very good on the night.
Francis Uzoho
The Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper was quite busy on the night as he made a couple of saves. He organized the defense quite well especially during set-pieces. He put in a good shift for Maduka Okoye.
