AFCONQ: Super Eagles Get Date To Resume Camp Ahead Of Sao Tome And Principe Match

Nigeria senior men’s football team, the Super Eagles have been scheduled to resume camp on September 4 ahead of the final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.

Recall that Nigeria thrashed Sao Tome and Principe 10 nil in the first leg of the fixture in Tangier, Morocco and they currently sit on top of Group A of the qualifiers with 12 points.

The inconsequential match will take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on September 10 as the Super Eagles look to round off the qualifying series on a positive note having sealed qualification already.

According to Nigerian Journalist, Adepoju Tobi Samuel, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have already invited 23+ players for the match and flight tickets have been sent to the players as well. The list was reportedly drafted by the federation’s technical director, Austin Eguavoen.

The Super Eagles are currently without a coach following expiration of Jose Peseiro’s contract in June. Reports suggest that the NFF are still negotiating with the Portuguese coach for a renewal but with a reduced salary among other conditions.

Austin Eguavoen, former assistant coach Salisu Yusuf and current coach of Enyimba football club, Finidi George are being considered to coach the team temporarily ahead of the match.
