Alimi Sikiru Outstanding As CHAN Eagles Thrash Non-league Side

Alimi Sikiru scored a first half hat trick as CHAN Eagles defeated non-league side Emmydinho Academy in a friendly match on Wednesday.

The friendly match took place at the Remo Stars Stadium as the CHAN Eagles continue to prepare for the clash against Ghana.

The Remo Stars striker scored on the 19th, 22nd, and 42nd minutes to lead the team to a resounding 5-0 win over the amateur side.

Shooting Stars forward Jide Fatokun and Plateau United’s Vincent Temitope also got on the scoresheet.

The CHAN Eagles are expected to play another friendly match on Thursday as they prepare to take on Ghana twelve days from now.

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu were on the sidelines as the team put up an impressive display in the match.

The first leg of the two-legged tie will hold at the Accra Sports Stadium on 22 December while the second leg is billed for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on 28 December, 2024.

The winner after two legs will qualify for the 2024 edition of the Championship of African Nations next year.

Three East African nations: Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda will co-host the competition between February 1 and February 28, 2025.

Austin Eguavoen having qualified the Super Eagles for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, will also look to secure qualification for the CHAN Eagles.

The interim Super Eagles coach is being assisted by Remo Stars Daniel Ogunmodede and Enugu Rangers Fidelis Ilechukwu.
