Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has started the new Premier League season on a brilliant note after he registered his first goal of the season against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite not starting the game, the introduction of Awoniyi alongside former Manchester United winger Anthony Elnaga changed the dynamics of the game for the visitors.
Awoniyi scored after Elanga found the Nigerian striker in space after a blistering counter-attack.
The Nigerian striker put the ball to the back of the net from a square ball by Elanga after the Swedish winger ran more than 60 yards toward Arsenal’s goal beating two defenders for pace.
However, Awoniyi’s goal was not enough to secure a point for Steve Cooper’s side as they begin the new campaign with a 2-1 loss to Arsenal.
Taiwo Awoniyi who was instrumental as his aide survived relegation last season scored 11 goals in 31 games for Nottingham Forest despite spending a lengthy time injured. The former Mainz striker will hope to stay fit this season in a bid to score more goals and win games for his side.
