Awoniyi’s Goal Ends Arsenal’s title chase, Crowns Man City As Premier League Champions

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal against Arsenal has handed the Premier League title to Manchester City and prevented Nottingham Forest from relegation.

The Tricky Trees defeated Arsenal 1-0 on Saturday, May 20 at City Ground to ensure they remain in the Premier League for another year.

Awoniyi scored the only goal of the encounter in the 19th minute of the game from a Morgan Gibbs-White pass.

The 25 year old was substituted off for Brennan Johnson in the 79th minute as Steve Cooper’s men held on till the blast of the final whistle.

Awoniyi has scored nine goals and recorded one assist in 26 Premier League games this term for Nottingham Forest. His goal against the Gunners is his fifth in three matches since he returned from injury.

Nottingham Forest are 16th on the Premier League table with 37 points from 37 games.
