Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface have become the joint-third Nigerians to win the German Bundesliga title.

The Super Eagles duo did it in grand style as they helped Bayer Leverkusen to their first-ever title as they put an end to Bayer Munich’s 11 years dominance of the league.

The duo started the title-wining match as Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen annihilated Werder Bremen by 5 goals to nil.

Victor Boniface opened the floodgate of goals on the 25th mimute as he converted the penalty after Jonas Hofmann was brought down in the box.

The Nigerian striker was not done impacting the match as he provided an assist for Granit Xhaka’s sublime strike to make it 2 nil.

Nathan Tella’s time in the match came to an end two minutes after the hour mark as he was replaced by Dutch defender Jeremie Frimpong.

Bayer Leverkusen went on to win the match 5 nil with Florian Wirtz, off the bench bagged his firt-ever career hattrick on a brilliant night for the team.

Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface are now the latest set of Nigerians to win the German Bundesliga.

The first Nigerian player to win the title is former Super Eagles midfielder Sunday Oliseh. Oliseh won the title with Borussia Dortmund in 2001.

Pascal Ojigwe became the second player to the title. He won with Kaiserslautern in the 1997/1998 season.

Victor Boniface has 11 goals and 8 assists while Nathan Tella 5 goals and 4 assists with give games left in the league.
