Breaking: Coronavirus postpones Liverpool’s victory dance as Premier League is suspended until April 3

The raging coronavirus claimed yet another victim on Friday with the decision to suspend all Premier League games until April 3 – this means Liverpool’s will have to wait a few more weeks to end their 30-year league drought.

Confirmation came in on Friday morning that the Premier League, Football League and Women’s Super League will shutdown until at least 3 April.

In a statement, the EFL said this action “will be kept under constant review” and a further update will be given following another EFL board meeting next week. The postponements include all matches in the Championship, League One and League Two, as well as all academy and youth-team fixtures.

“In addition, clubs have been advised to suspend indefinitely all non-essential activities, including player appearances, training-ground visits and fan meetings.
“This decision has not been taken lightly, but the EFL must prioritise the health and well-being of players, staff and supporters while also acknowledging the Government’s national efforts in tackling this outbreak.”

Liverpool are poised to win the 2019/20 season should they win just two more games from the remaining nine games and the Reds had pencilled next Monday night’s clash with city rivals Everton at Goodison Park and the home game against Crystal Palace on March 21 to claim a first league title since 1990.

Now the dream is delayed for another three weeks but what is three weeks if you had waited for three decades?
