Nigerian sprint queen, Favour Ofili has qualified for the women’s 200m event at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics.
Ofili put behind the unfortunate omission of her name from the 100m event behind her as she 0ut up a fantastic performance to qualify for the final.
In a well-calculated race, Favour ofili clocked finished second behind Julien Alfred as she clocked her season best timing of 22.05s.
The Port Harcourt-born athlete shattered a 28-year-old as becomes the first Nigerian athlete to qualify for the women’s 200m final.
The last athlete to achieve the feat was Mary Onyali who won a bronze kedal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Favour ofili will hope to equal Mary Onyali’s feat or better it when she compete in the final in her first Olympic Games appearance.
