Manchester City defender, Ruben Dias has been named Premier League Player of the Season as he narks his first season in England with the league title.
Ruben Dias who joined the Champions from Benfica for £65m last summer, wins the award ahead of Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Westham’s Thomas Soucek, and his teammate, Kevin De Bruyne who won the accolade last year.
His partnership with John Stones proved instrumental as City won their fifth Premier League title.
Ruben Dias kept 15 clean sheets in 32 league appearances for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s team conceded only 32 goals last season.
The Portuguese ranks first in headed clearances (47), clearance completed (88), and blocked shots (22). He won 61 area duels (2nd) and he completed 2,438 passes (2nd).
He becomes the second Portuguese player tone in the award after Cristiano Ronaldo did in 2007 and 2008.
