Breaking: Pinnick wins FIFA Council seat!
NFF President Amaju Melvin Pinnick has been elected into the FIFA Council at the CAF 43rd General Assembly going on in Rabat, Morocco.
The Nigerian football supremo secured a seat following a spate of withdrawal from the race by some contestants.
Initially there were six candidates for the two seats zoned to Anglophone Africa but Gambia FA boss Lamine Bajo withdrew his candidacy few days to the election.
Kenya’s Nick Mwendwa, Wallace Karia of Tanzania as well as Andrew Kamanga from Zambia all threw in the towel leaving the coast clear for Pinnick and Walter Nyamilandu.
By his election, Pinnick becomes only the third Nigerian to occupy such exalted seat in FIFA after the late Oyo Orok Oyo and Dr Amos Adamu.
