The Premier League have confirmed that the 2020/2021 football season will kick-off on the 12th of September and run through the 24th of May 2021.

The English Championship, League one and League two also confirmed that the leagues will commence on the same day with the Premier League and will end on the weekend of the 8th of May while the play-off finals will be be played on the weekend of the bank holiday at the end of May.

A Statement from the Premier League reads thus;

Premier League shareholders today agreed to start the 2020-21 Premier League season on September 12, 2020. The final match round of the campaign will take place on May 23, 2021. The Premier League will continue to consult the FA and EFL regarding the scheduling of all domestic competitions.” 

This latest development confirms that some English clubs will have a busy schedule ahead with a good number of them still competing in European Competitions which will be held between the 5th and 23rd of August.

The Champions League final is set to take place just three weeks before the start of the new Premier League season.

The Uefa Nations League is also slated to begin in September with games currently scheduled for the 3rd and 8th of September.
