Breaking! Remo Stars Qualify For Naija Super 8 Final

Remo Stars Sports Club of Ikenne have qualified for the final of the Naija Super 8 off season football competition after beating Lobi Stars at the Mobolaji John Arena on Friday.

The Sky Blue Stars put the shocking 2-1 loss to Sporting Lagos on Wednesday behind them as they put forth a more commanding performance over Lobi Stars.

Both sides sized each other up in the first twenty minutes of the match with a few blocked shots and others others off target. However, Remo Stars took the lead afterward via Dela Akorli. Akorli was he in the right spot as he jabbed Isaac James’ ball into the net.

Lobi Stars had the chance to restore parity just before half time but Kayode Bankole was quick to the ground as he stopped the effort by the opponent as Remo Stars went into the break with a one-goal lead.

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s side started from when they left off in the first half as the second half resumed and it didn’t take long before Remo Stars doubled their advantage. Nduka Junior, the captain of the side nodded the ball home from Sodiq Ismail’s sublime free-kick.

Lobi Stars’ Atule Joseph halved the deficit as he scored from a penalty to ignite a possible comeback victory for his side. Nevertheless, Remo Stars piled more pressure on Lobi Stars in the final quarter of the game.

Isaac James efforts could have at least extended Remo Stars lead but none of them troubled Lobi Stars goalkeeper but Remo Stars held on to their to their lead to the end.

Remo Stars will now take on the winner between former Nigeria Premier League champions, Akwa United and wild card beneficiaries, Sporting Lagos in the final on Sunday as they look win the inaugural edition of the off-season tournament which comes with a N25m price.
