The Super Falcons of Nigeria defeated Australian women’s football side, Lions FC in a friendly match in Gold Coast ahead of their FIFA Women’s World Cup Campaign in Australia and New Zealand.
The Nigerian ladies humiliated their opponents 8-1 in a one-sided affair in the early hours of Saturday July 15th.
Barcelona star striker Asisat Oshoala scored a brace in the match while Atletico Madrid’s forward Rasheedat Ajibade also got on the scoresheet.
Ifeoma Onumonu, Toni Payne, Halimatu Ayinde, Uchenna Kanu and Gift Monday also scored in a commanding victory for Randy Waldrum’s team.
The Super Falcons will take on a familiar foe in Canada in their opening match on the 21st of July at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium before taking on Australia and the Republic of Ireland on the 27th and 31st of July respectively.
