Breaking! Super Falcons To Play England In World Cup Round of 16

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will face the Lionesses of England in the second round of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Nigeria qualified for the second round after a goalless draw tournament debutants the Republic of Ireland in their final group match. The result saw them finish with 5 behind Australia who topped the group with 6 points.

Randy Waldrum team played a goalles draw against Canada and the Republic of Ireland but they secured maximum points against the co-host after a 3-2 win.

England on the hand topped group D with Maximum points with slim victories over Haiti and Denmark and a comprehensive 6-1 demolition of China in their final group match.

The 11-time Women’s Africa of Nations champions will be meeting the reigning European champions for the second time in the history of the competition. The two teams last met at the the 1995 edition of the competition where the Lionesses edged the Super Falcons with a 3-2 victory.

The match between the Super Falcons will take place at the Lang Park, Brisbane on Monday 7th of July, 2023. Kick-off is 8.30 a.m. Nigerian time.
