Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has announced the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations currently holding in Cameroon will be his last for Nigeria.
Musa made this known to newsmen ahead of Super Eagles opening natch match against the Pharaohs of Egypt tomorrow at the Roumdé Adjia stadium in Garoua.
In his words;
“This will be my last AFCON.”
“I will always give my best when I am called up, either in the tournament or the qualifiers. I want to give my best always.”
Ahmed Musa made his debut for the Super Eagles in a qualification match for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations against Madagascar, where he came on as a substitute for former captain Mikel John Obi in a 2–0 win.
He is the most capped Nigerian player in history with 103 appearances between 2010 and 2022.
Ahmed Musa is likely to increase that tally in this tournament. He also look to add one or more goals to his tally at the tournament.
His last and only goal came in a 4-1 win against Mali in the semi-finals en route to Super Eagles triumph in South Africa.
