Chelsea Midfielder Of Nigerian Descent Expresses Admiration For John Obi Mikel

Lesley Ugochukwu, a Nigeria-eligible midfielder who currently plays for Chelsea football club in Rngland has expressed his love for former Super Eagles midfielder and captain, John Obi Mikel.

The former Nigerian midfielder, a Chelsea legend played for the Blues for 11 years excelling under various managers including Carlo Amcelotti, Guus Hiddink, Jose Mourinho, Roberto Di Matteo among others.

John Obi Mikel also won a handful of trophies including the UEFA champions League in 2012. He was arguably the best player on the historic night as Chelsea won their first Champions League trophy in Munich over Bayern Munich.

Ugochukwu while speaking to Chelsea website recently said he watched John Obi Mikel while growing up and he liked him.

“Growing up, watching the Premier League, I liked John Mikel Obi. A midfielder like me,”

The 19-year-old midfielder arrived from French Ligue 1 side Rennes this summer where he played for three years.

Ugochukwu, a versatile midfielder is currently struggling for playing time as he plays similar role with Argentina’s World Cup-winning midfielder, Enzo Fernandez and record signing, Moises Caicedo.

The French international has featured in a couple of games in the league ans well as the EFL Cup where he made his first start in Chelsea’s 2-1 over AFC Wimbledon.
