Create a ministry for Herdsmen! – Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Gumi tells Buhari government

Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has called on the Federal Government to create a ministry for herdsmen.

Sheikh Gumi said the “Ministry of Normadic Affairs” as he termed it will address issues concerning herdsmen in the country.

The cleric made this known on Friday via his Facebook page. Sheikh Gumi who is known for interacting with bandits as regards release of kidnapped students added that since the Ministry of Miger Delat Affairs was created for the sake of the former Niger-Delta militants, herdsmen should also be treated as such.

“I said my mission has not failed but it was sabotaged or discouraged by the same influential people that benefit from the chaos or like us to destroy ourselves and leave the herdsmen in perpetual ignorance.

“Some said we have tried amnesty, but it didn’t work. You didn’t try amnesty but tried amnesia. Amnesty without rehabilitation, reconciliation, and reparation is no amnesty.

“Ask the former Niger Delta militants who killed security men in the past what an amnesty is. What stops us from having a Federal Ministry of Nomadic Affairs where their grievances and complaints will be addressed?”
