Declan Rice Transfer Saga Ends: Arsenal Wins Race with £105 Million Bid

After weeks of contending with other clubs, Arsenal have finally won the race to sign high-coveted English midfielder, Declan Rice from Westham for £105 Million – a new record for a British player.

The deal for the transfer of the player between the two London clubs was reached on Wednesday after Manchester City pulled out of the race to sign the 24-year-old midfielder on Tuesday.

Arsenal’s first two bids, the second, in the region of £90m were turned down by Westham two weeks ago as they held on to their most-priced asset.

Manchester City’s bid of £90m was also turned down in the process before the league champions pulled out of the race.

Declan Rice’s transfer to Arsenal makes the most expensive British footballer in history – a record previously held by his national team teammate Jack Grealish who was signed for £100m from Aston Villa on August 5th 2021.

The deal will also smash Arsenal’s transfer record of £72m which they paid for Cote D’Ivoire’s winger Nicolas Pepe in 2019.

Arsenal, according to reports has always been Declan Rice’s first choice even though he held talks with Newcastle.

Declan Rice recently led Westham to their second European title as they emerged champions of the UEFA Conference League June 7 with a 2-1 win over Fiorentina.
