Ex-Super Eagles goalie Ike Shorunmu bags chieftaincy title

Former national team captain and goalkeeper Ike Sorounmu has become the Olunla of Wasimi in Ogun State.

According to a statement by Nigerian legend Segun Odegbami, the former safe hands bagged the title around 12 noon today, 1st day of May, 2021.

Shorunmu reportedly paid an official courtesy visit to the Oba of Wasimi, the Oniwasimi of Wasimi, Oba Emmanuel Babatunde Oshuntogun, where the national football hero was presented with a surprise special 1st of May-gift.

He was accompanied to the Palace by the Chairman of the SOCA PTA, Chief Dele Avri, the Head of Sports, Prof. Lee Evans, the Administrator of the school, Mr. Denis Owumi, the Bursar, Mr. Michael Olaniran, amongst others.
