The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria defeated South Africa in their third game of the 2023 U-17 Afcon to qualify for the quarter-final of the competition.
The Golden Eaglets emerged 3-2 victors over South Africa on Saturday, May 6 at the Mohammed Hamlaoui Stadium.
Vicky Mkhawana scored first for South Africa in the fourth minute and Adah Agada equalised for Nigeria 28 minutes later but Siyabonga Mabena made it 2-1 for the South Africans just before halftime.
However the Eaglets came roaring back in the second half with goals from Light Eke and Idris Abdullahi.
The Golden Eaglets are currently second in Group B with six points from two games and South Africa are third with three points after three matches.
The top four teams in the competition will qualify for the 2023 U-17 FIFA World Cup which will hold from November 10 to December 2.
