Guinness World Records confirm Hilda Baci as new holder for longest cooking marathon (individual) video

Guinness World Records have confirmed Nigerian Chef Hilda Baci as the new holder of the longest cooking marathon by an individual. The Nigerian Chef officially cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes. Hilda Baci started her cooking marathon on Thursday 11 May and continued through to Monday 15 May as she cooked over 100 pots of meals. Her record was announced on the official page of the organization.

On receiving the news of her award, she took to her Twitter page to express her gratitude.

Hilda Baci would have been awarded 100 hours of cooking but seven hours were deducted after Guinness World Records discovered that she took extra minutes of rest beyond the allotted time. The rules of the cooking marathon only allow participants to rest for only five minutes for every continuous period of cooking. However, the rest period can be accumulated if the participant didn’t observe them.

The record was previously held by Lata Tondon, an Indian Chef who cooked for 87 hours and 45 minutes in 2019.

Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon attracted quite a handful of celebrities including Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Nigeria’s former Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Afropop singer, Tiwa Savage among others. She also received a lot of encouragement online and offline as supporters trooped to the venue of her cook-a-thon to show her support.

Hilda Baci abided by one of the most important rules of the cooking marathon which states that all food cooked must eaten. To this end. Hilda invited her friends, family, and well-wishers to eat her meals. She also donated all the left-over food to a foundation known as Festus Fajemilo Foundation.
